The assembly (10) has a tubular core (12) tightly covered by a protective elastic sleeve (11) and receiving internally an elongate member. A thin and flexible sliding element makes a half-turn over an end (17) of the core so as to be arranged inside the core for being pulled from another end (18) of the core. The sliding element includes a net (13) formed of flexible plastic filaments with a layer of filaments connected to each other in a predetermined arrangement. The filaments of the layer are adapted to slide on an outside surface of the core and to turn around the former end of the core.
