Paint removing- and cleaning agent comprises many solvents, 20-80 wt.% of at least one acetal (I), and 80-20 wt.% of at least one high-boiling component, where the acetal comprises at least 24 wt.% of methylal. Paint removing- and cleaning agent comprises many solvents, 20-80 wt.% of at least one acetal of formula (XO-OX-Y1CH) (I), and 80-20 wt.% of at least one high-boiling component, where the acetal comprises at least 24 wt.% of methylal. X : optionally branched, optionally saturated 1-10C hydrocarbon, phenyl or benzyl; and Y1 : H, optionally branched 1-4C hydrocarbon.
