<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp which extracts and uses light efficiently by forming an outer shape of a sealed body with high dimensional accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: A discharge lamp 3 includes a sealed body portion 10A, which is provided at a center portion as a sealed body, and sealing portions 10B, 10B extending at both sides of the sealed body portion 10A. The sealed body portion 10A is a rotation body having a hollow cylindrical shape, and the axes of a pair of electrodes 11a, 11a serve as a rotation axis of the rotation body.
