<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability of a fuel cell by preventing excessive drying of an electrolyte membrane due to purge of dry gas. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell constituted by laminating and fastening multiple fuel cell modules 10 is provided with a gas supply manifold 70a from one end toward the other end of the fuel cell along the laminating direction of the fuel cell modules, and a gas exhaust manifold 70b from the other end toward one end along the laminating direction. Each fuel cell module has a gas channel connecting from the gas supply manifold to the gas exhaust manifold, and a channel cross-sectional area variable mechanism 80 is provided in a groove-like channel part existing in the gas channel. The channel cross-sectional area variable mechanism has a structure which reduces the channel cross-sectional area at the groove-like channel part in which it is provided as the humidity in a corresponding fuel cell module decreases. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
