<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image with image quality on which a photographer's intention is reflected by a photographing apparatus such as a digital camera, particularly when including a predetermined object such as a face. <P>SOLUTION: A face detection unit detects a predetermined object, e.g., a face from a pre-photographed image such as a through image or a pre-image. An image obtaining function includes: at least one function to set at least one photographing condition at the time of a pre-photographing or a main photographing; and/or at least one function to set at least one image processing condition to be performed for an image photographed by the pre-photographing or the main photographing. A CPU sets the image obtaining function used at the time of the pre-photographing or the main photographing depending on presence or absence of the detection of the predetermined object and a photographing mode or the presence or absence of the detection of the predetermined object and the pre-photographed image or a sean of the main image.
