The method involves securing a frame element (7.1) in a bottom portion of a front end of a bipolar plate (6) in a fluid tight manner. Another frame element (7.2) enclosing a membrane electrode unit (8) is secured in fluid tight manner, where frame elements are welded with one another. The latter frame is secured in an upper area of the front end of the bipolar plate. The membrane electrode unit is secured at a top face of the latter frame element for manufacturing a fuel cell (2) in a fluid tight manner. An independent claim is also included for a fuel cell comprising a circulating frame.
