<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an azo compound being excellent in color characteristics such as tinting strength and hue and indicating heat resistance, light resistance and high contrast, a manufacturing method therefor, an azo pigment, an azo pigment dispersion and a colored composition; and to further provide a pigment dispersion being excellent in color characteristics such as tinting strength and hue, being excellent in durability such as light resistance and ozone resistance and being excellent in dispersion property, dispersion stability and stability with age. <P>SOLUTION: The azo pigment has a characteristic X-ray diffraction peak on Bragg angle (2θ±0.2°) of 6.9°, 21.5° and 27.3° in CuKα characteristic X-ray diffraction, has the height of a peak at 11.9° of 0.6 or less relative to the height of a peak at 10.9° and is represented by formula (1).
