The insert (1) has a clamping surface formed from cutting edge (8) along length of the insert and comprising an elevation. The clamping surface is directly or indirectly formed with a contact surface (11) for a clamping element. The contact surface is formed with a partial surface (12), where another partial surface (13) is attached to the former partial surface. Lateral surfaces (17) and/or side surface regions (18) are formed at a side of the former partial surface and taper along the length of the insert from the edge, where the insert is made of hard metal.
