<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element having a heat conduction path that has excellent heat conduction characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting element includes a light emitting structure that includes a first conductive layer 102, an active layer 104 disposed on the first conductive layer 102, and a second conductive layer 106 disposed on the active layer 104. The light emitting element further includes a first bonding pad 107a disposed on the first conductive layer 102, a second bonding pad 107b disposed on the second conductive layer 106, a first metal layer 160 disposed on the first bonding pad 107a, a second metal layer 162 disposed on the second bonding pad 107b.
