<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small pickup having aberration correcting means that can correct various spherical aberrations, coma aberrations and astigmatism with low power consumption, and to provide a drive. <P>SOLUTION: A variable focus lens actuator A1 can bend a transparent deformation film into a parabolic shape by applying a magnetic field, change the intensity distribution of transmitted light, and correct a spherical aberration.
