<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of an image forming apparatus and to miniaturize the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: an image forming unit; a transfer member transferring a developer image to medium; a fixing device for fixing the developer image to the medium; a contact/separation device for making the transfer member come into contact/separate with respect to the image forming unit; a common drive section for both the fixing device and the contact/separation device; a rotation transmission section for transmitting the rotation transmitted to the contact/separation device to the fixing device; and a control unit. The control unit switchingly actuates the drive unit in the forward direction and inverse direction and, with the switching, selectively transmits the rotation generated by actuating the drive unit to the contact/separation device. Consequently, the single drive section can actuate the contact/separation device as well as rotating the roller in the fixing device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
