<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method capable of precisely and swiftly measuring residual stress on a resin molding. <P>SOLUTION: A piece of color component data for obtaining color component data of three primary colors representing a photo-elastic image of a resin molding is obtained (S1, S2). An amplitude vector representing energy of brightness of each pixel is obtained from the color component data of each pixel constituting the photo-elastic image (S3). A frequency vector representing energy of color of each pixel from the color component data of each pixel constituting the photo-elastic image (step S4). A vector of light energy of each pixel constituting the photo-elastic image is obtained by synthesizing the amplitude vector and the frequency vector (step S5).
