<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical control element that enables low driving voltage and miniaturization, in particular an optical control element that enables cost reduction by using a low-cost drive system component. <P>SOLUTION: In an optical control element having a substrate 1 having an electro-optic effect, plural optical waveguides 2 formed on the substrate, and a control electrode 3 formed on the substrate for controlling the phase of light which propagates through the optical waveguides, the control electrode 3 comprises at least two resonance type electrodes 31 and 32 having the same resonance frequency; and power supply electrodes 41 and 42 that supply a control signal to each resonance type electrode. A shape and a formation position of each resonance type electrode, and power supply positions of the power supply electrodes to each resonance type electrode are provided such that odd mode coupling with each other is enabled. The power supply electrodes have branch wiring parts 41 and 42 that are obtained by branching an input wiring part 40, and each resonance type electrode is supplied with a control signal having an in-phase or prescribed phase difference by the branch wiring parts. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
