<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for activating a motion detector to determine whether a working motion detector is present. <P>SOLUTION: An electromagnetic signal is transmitted in a form of a beam. The beam is configured to activate a motion detector when the beam encounters the motion detector.
