<p>An entry updating method and device for a ternary content addressable memory (TCAM) are provided. The method includes: a visual TCAM list is created (S201), each first TCAM entry in the visual TCAM list corresponds to each second TCAM entry in a hardware TCAM respectively; according to the order relationship of the memory location between a pre-assigned first TCAM entry to be updated and the other first TCAM entries in the visual TCAM list, the memory location of a second TCAM entry to be updated corresponding to the first TCAM entry to be updated is confirmed in the idle resources of the hardware TCAM (S202); basing on the confirmed memory location, the second TCAM entry to be updated is updated (S203). The memory location of the second TCAM entry to be updated can be selected in the idle resources of the hardware TCAM as much as possible by the method and device, and the problem of lower updating efficient can be avoided, which is caused by the large amount of re-writing of other second TCAM entries by the second TCAM entry in the hardware TCAM updating.</p> |
