<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly perform valve timing control during engine restart. <P>SOLUTION: An engine 11 includes a hydraulic variable valve mechanism 18 and a hydraulic adjusting device (OCV 31). An ECU 40 calculates a control variable of a hydraulic adjusting device using a held control variable for maintaining the current valve timing, and drives the variable valve mechanism 18 by adjusting a hydraulic pressure by the hydraulic adjusting device on the basis of the control variable. Further, on condition that a prescribed execution condition is established during the operation of the engine 11, learning about the held control variable is executed. In particular, the ECU 40 measures an engine stop time from the engine stop to a restart request, and calculates the held control variable to be used during a period after restart request until the learning execution condition is established, on the basis of the engine stop time and the learning value of the held control variable. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
