The invention relates to a method and to a control circuit for controlling an electrohydraulic braking system for motor vehicles, said system being preferably controlled in a "brake-by-wire" operating mode. Said system comprises a pressure supply device that can be regulated by an electronic control and regulation unit, formed by a cylinder-piston assembly, the piston of said assembly being actuated by an electromechanical actuator. A pressure target value is determined for the pressure supply unit.
