The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for obtaining a specific ion from a fluid. The apparatus according tot the invention comprises: -a compartment for containing the fluid; -a first and a second electrode placed in the compartment,wherein in use the first and second electrodes are of an opposite polarity; and -at least one membrane placed between the first and second electrodes, wherein the membrane is specific ion-selective.
