<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a urethral catheter that can reduce a sense of discomfort in a state of being retained in the body. <P>SOLUTION: The urethral catheter 10 includes: a distal region 14 provided with a urine guide port 12 and a lumen 24a communicating with the urine guide port 12; a proximal region 18 that can communicate with a urine collecting bag 20; an intermediate tube 16 formed with a main lumen 24 connecting the distal region 14 to the proximal region 18 and serving for communication between the urinal guide port 12 and the urine collecting bag 20 through the proximal region 18; and a balloon 22 disposed on the outer surface of the distal region 14 and expanded with an expansion fluid supplied through a sub-lumen 26 formed in the intermediate tube 16. In a state of the urethral catheter 10 being retained in a living body at least, the urethral catheter 10 is configured such that the occupied cross-sectional area of the intermediate tube 16 is smaller than that of the distal region 14. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
