Provided is a fuel cell in which the cell capacity can be increased without impairing the cathode characteristics. The disclosed biofuel cell includes at least one cell section (1) that has a structure in which an oxidoreductase is present on the surface of the anode (2) and/or the cathode (3) and in which the cathode (3) is in contact with both a liquid phase and a gas phase. In said biofuel cell, a permselective membrane (6) that inhibits the permeation of at least the fuel component is arranged between an anode solution section (4) provided around the anode (2) and a cathode solution section (5) provided around the cathode (3). The concentration of the fuel component in the solution in contact with the anode (2) is higher than that in the solution in contact with the cathode (3).
