The present invention relates to a cutting tool insert for machining by chip removal comprising a body of a hard alloy of cemented carbide, cermet, ceramics or cubic boron nitride based material onto which a hard and wear resistant coating is deposited by CVD. Said coating comprises at least one -a-AI2O3 layer with a thickness between 0.5 µ?? and 40 µ?? having a {01-15} and/or {10-15} texture exhibiting excellent wear and metal cutting performance. The invention also relates to a method of making and use of the same.
