[Classes 122 (iii) and 122 (v)] Also in Group XXVIII] A fluid - tight joint comprises a resilient packing sleeve D inserted in the annular space between a tube A or the like and a hole in the wall or partition B through which it passes. The sleeve, which has a flanged end D<1>, is compressed longitudinally between a flange A' and an adjustable collar E of wedge section which causes the sleeve to expand radially. The bore in the wall may also have a flare B'. The tube A may constitute a gland through which a second tube or shaft passes. |
