<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coordinate detector used for detecting the coordinates of an input device and capable of reducing power consumption . <P>SOLUTION: A coordinate detector 50 for detecting the coordinates of an electronic pen 20 includes a sensing coil 542, an approach detecting coil 544, a position detecting circuit 58, and a microprocessor 52. The sensing coil 542 generates a signal 92 for inputting information from the electronic pen 20 to the coordinate detector 50 in response to a first kind of magnetic field generated with the electronic pen 20, the approach detecting coil 544 generates a signal 72 for detecting the approach of the electronic pen 20 to the coordinate detector 50 in response to a second kind of magnetic field generated with the electronic pen 20. The position detecting circuit 58 inputs a signal 98 based on the signal 92 to the microprocessor 52 to detect the coordinates of the electronic pen 20. The microprocessor 52 begins to supply power to the position detecting circuit 58 from a power supply which supplies power when the signal 72 is gained from the approach detecting coil 544. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
