PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotor shaft for a rotary electric machine with a hollowing part improving easily and sufficiently circularity of a peripheral surface in the hollowing part or circularity of a tooth tip circle and a root circle in case that a spline is formed on the peripheral surface even when applying a heat treatment to a material.

SOLUTION: A rotor shaft 50 comprises: a cylinder part 56 that is a hollowing part having a hole part in a center part; a key groove 62 arranged so as to extend in an axial direction on an outer peripheral surface of the cylinder part 56; and a pseudo key groove 64 that is a notch arranged so as to extend in the axial direction at a position deviated in a circumferential direction from the key groove 62 on the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder part 56. This constitution alleviates ununiformity of heat capacity in the cylinder part 56 of the rotor shaft 50 in the circumferential direction.
