The method involves monitoring hazard condition i.e. collision occurrence, of a motor vehicle (2). A driver independent brake intervention is executed (5) when the hazard condition is recognized, and condition of activation is fulfilled. The condition of activation is fulfilled when driving stability function of a brake assembly is provided by an antilock braking system (ABS) and an electronic stability control/active yaw control (ESC/AYC). Information is stored according to availability of driving stability function of the brake assembly when the condition of activation is fulfilled. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling a brake assembly of a motor car, comprising a monitoring unit.
