PURPOSE: A device and a method for controlling the water supply of a washing machine are provided to accurately control water supply amount by using water tank. CONSTITUTION: A water tank(40) stores washing water. A valve unit(20) supplies washing water to the water tank. The valve unit drains the stored washing water to a washing tub. A washing water sensing unit(30) senses the stored washing water. A control unit stores the washing water in the water tank in the preset amount of water.
