[Class 7 (ii)] Each bank of cylinders 1, 2 in a V-type engine has a separate induction manifold 8 or 9 which is spaced above and to the side of an exhaust manifold 6 'common to both banks. Each induction manifold is connected at its middle to a carburetter and is surrounded by a casing 10 into which exhaust gases can be admitted to heat the manifolds. The carburetters are arranged at the sides of the induction manifolds and preferably the carburetter of one bank is connected to .the manifold of the other bank by passages in the casing 10. The carburetters may be protected from the heat of the exhaust manifold by a sheet-metal screen. |
