Class 20 (2) Pressure plates 3, 8 supported by the lower prop part 10 are clamped against the upper prop part 11 by two rockable loop members 1, 2 surrounding the pressure plates and upper part 11, clamping being effected by a wedge 5 interposed between the loops 1, 2 on one side and a resilient body, e.g. rubber 7 or a steel spring being interposed between them on the other side. Interengaging projections and recesses on the wedge and loops respectively permit positive unc'amping by the wedge whereupon the rubber body 7 returns the loops to their original positions. A vertically movable wedge 4 operated by a cross wedge 6 permits compensation for wear and tolerance.
