The invention relates to a verification method and to a verification device. The method comprises the steps of: detecting at least one image (3) of the document (46; 61); deriving features from the image (3); comparing features to expert knowledge; verifying the document (46; 61) using a result of the comparison, wherein the image (3) is subjected to a wavelet transformation, and the features are derived from individual wavelet pixels or wavelet pixel areas. A device for verifying comprises a detecting device for detecting an image (3) of the document (46; 61), a transforming unit for performing a wavelet transformation, and an analysis and verification device for deriving features and performing a verification using the derived features. |
