A protective case (10) for a handheld mobile electronic device (19) comprises a first portion (12) creating an exterior hard shell, including a fitted cavity (22) formed therein for mounting a handheld mobile electronic device (19) to the protective case (10), a second portion (13), permanently affixed to the fitted cavity (22) formed therein of the first portion (12). The first portion (12) comprises a protective outer layer composed of a hardened plastic and the second portion (13) comprises an elastomeric liner formed and permanently affixed on the interior of the exterior hard shell first portion (12). The second portion (13) further comprises a detent (20) for mounting a handheld mobile electronic device (19) to the protective case (10).
