<p>A monolithic foam sleeve comprises titanium or titanium alloy foam having a porosity of 50 to 85%. The sleeve has possess a proximal end, a distal end, an interior wall that defines an interior channel and extends from the proximal end to the distal end. A terraced outer surface that tapers such that the sleeve is widest at the distal end and most narrow at the proximal end. The sleeve can be used in an implant component of a knee joint prosthesis. The sleeve is made by mixing titanium and pore forming agent powders, compacting the mixture, removing the pore forming agent to form a green body, and sintering the green body. The sleeve is joined to a femoral component by sintering.</p> |
