PURPOSE: A composition containing sesquiterpene compound for preventing or treating neurodegenerative diseases is provided to suppress deformation of alpha-synuclein. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating neurodegenerative diseases contains sesquiterpene of isozaluzanin C, magnolialide, santamarine, lucentolide, 1beta-hydroxyarbusculin A, and methyl 1beta, 2beta, 6 alpha-trihydroxy-5alpha,7alphaH-eudesma-4(15),11(13)-dien-12-oate as an active ingredient. The neurodegenerative diseases are Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's disease, or Lewy body dementia. The sesquiterpene compound is isolated from chloroform of Laurus nobilis L.
