The present invention concerns a system for the luminescence detection of an analyte in a liquid sample where the system comprises a support on which an analyte-specific substance and a reference substance are located. In addition the invention concerns a method for detecting an analyte in a liquid sample in which the said system is used. In addition to detecting an analyte, the system according to the invention is also suitable for determining the amount of sample, the amount of analyte and/or the operational readiness of the support for a detection.
