The absorber (6) has a cell block (14) possessing an array of cells (15) that extends along an extension direction (L) from a face (16) i.e. non-planar face, of the block to another face (18) of the block. The cells are separated by the partition walls (20). The former face is not parallel to a plane orthogonal to the extension direction of the cells. The partition walls form a clearance angle such that the thickness of each partition wall increases along the extension direction from the former face. Thicknesses of the walls are identical at the level of the former face. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a crosspiece for a motor vehicle, comprising a hollow beam (2) a method for fabricating an energy absorber.
