Provided is a liquid crystal display apparatus in which a viewing angle is increased, a front contrast is improved and a color shift, when viewed from an oblique direction, is prevented. A liquid crystal display apparatus (1) comprises a first light polarizer (2), a first optical compensation layer (3), a liquid crystal cell (4), a second optical compensation layer (5), and a second light polarizer (6), arranged in this order.
