The process of desulfating a liquid effluent comprising sulfuric acid obtained from a process for producing titanium oxide, comprises contacting or leaching the liquid effluent with a composition comprising zinc, separating the resulting mixture from the liquid effluent and solid residues, and concentrating zinc sulfate present in the liquid effluent. The composition includes dust from brass foundry, Zamak(RTM: Family of alloys with a base metal of zinc and alloying elements of aluminum, magnesium and copper), mineral oxides of zinc and sludges from blast furnaces. The composition includes dust from brass foundry, Zamak(RTM: Family of alloys with a base metal of zinc and alloying elements of aluminum, magnesium and copper), mineral oxides of zinc, sludges from blast furnaces and dusts from electric arc furnace. The composition is dechlorinated before contacting with the liquid effluent. The composition is suspended in water, pH of the suspension is adjusted to 8-8.5, and then the liquid phase and solid phase of the suspension are separated. The step of leaching is carried out at a pH of 2-5. The step of concentrating the liquid effluent allows to reduce its volume from 33-75%, and is carried out by precipitating the salts present in the liquid effluent by heating at greater than 1000[deg] C and subjecting the solid residues to low intensity magnetic separation.
|
