PURPOSE: A washing machine is provided to detect the problem of suspension with a damper which uses magnetic-rheological fluid. CONSTITUTION: A suspension(7a,7b) includes a shaft(23), a cylinder, coils(36,39), a yoke, and a damper(21). The coil generates a magnetic field. The damper includes a magnetic rheological fluid. If the viscosity of the magneto-rheological fluid is changed by the magnetic field, a damping force between the shaft and the yoke is increased. The suspension reduces the vibration of the water tub. A failure detection unit detects the failure of the suspension. A control unit controls the washing operation. |
