PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source driving device for series connection,which is capable of suppressing fluctuations of an electric current generated at a timing of switching, and a backlight device and a liquid crystal display device that use the light source driving device.

SOLUTION: A light source driving device drives multiple light-emitting portions (13) that are connected in series. The light source driving device is connected to one end of the multiple light-emitting portions (13) connected in series and comprises: a constant current circuit portion (11) for supplying a constant current to the light-emitting portions; multiple switches (14) connected in parallel to each light-emitting portion; and a driving control portion (12) for controlling the switching status of the multiple switches and controlling the constant current circuit portion so as to stop the supply of constant current when any of the multiple switches are changed from the opening state to the closing state.
