<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve sufficient high durability by suppressing deterioration of a polymer electrolyte membrane or a catalyst layer. <P>SOLUTION: In a fuel cell which includes a membrane electrode assembly obtained by assembling a fuel electrode 3 and an oxidant electrode 4 on each of both sides of a polymer electrolyte membrane 2, the membrane electrode assembly contains a metal ion of which the standard oxidation reduction potential is higher than that of a hydrogen ion. The content of metal ions is 1 mol% to 15 mol% with respect to ion exchange group capacitance of the polymer electrolyte membrane, and the metal ion is palladium (Pd) ion or silver (Ag) ion. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
