<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel substituted silyl alkyl carbamate polyvinyl alcohol that has general characteristics of polyvinyl alcohol, such as a film-forming property, toughness, an excellent gas-barrier property and transparency, as well as characteristics of a silicone having a branch structure, such as high solubility to an organic solvent and excellent handleability due to its liquid nature; and to provide a method for producing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The substituted silyl alkyl carbamate polyvinyl alcohol is represented by formula (1) (wherein R<SP POS="POST">1</SP>is 1-6C monovalent organic group; R<SP POS="POST">2</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">3</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">4</SP>each represents 1-6C monovalent organic group or a siloxy group represented by the formula: -OSiR<SP POS="POST">5</SP>R<SP POS="POST">6</SP>R<SP POS="POST">7</SP>(wherein R<SP POS="POST">5</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">6</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">7</SP>are each a 1-6C monovalent organic group); x is 0 or an integer of ≥1; y and z are each an integer of ≥1, provided that x+y+z satisfies the molecular weight; n is an integer of 1-10; and a is 0 or 1) and has a number-average molecular weight (Mn) calculated in terms of polystyrene of 10,000-5,000,000 when measured by GPC. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
