<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resume function to an optical disk device using a CEC command in a system having a television set and the optical disk device connected via an HDMI connection. <P>SOLUTION: The data reproduction system comprises a television set 1, an optical disk device 2, and an HDMI for transmitting and receiving video data and a CEC command between the television set 1 and the optical disk device 2. The television set 1 transmits a Stop command or a Play command to the optical disk device 2 via the HDMI (S204, S212). The optical disk device 2, when receiving the Stop command during reproducing the video, stops the reproduction of the video according to the Stop command and acquires resume information (S207).
