A method and device for reporting and obtaining the capability of the machine type communication apparatus are provided in the invention. The above method for reporting the capability of the machine type communication apparatus includes that: a machine type communication(MTC) apparatus, based on the rule which is same as the network side rules, maps the combination consisted of the capability parameters of the MTC apparatus to be an index, wherein, the rule is the corresponding relation between the capability parameters combination of the MTC apparatus and the index; the MTC apparatus reports the index to the network side. The invention saves the cost of the air interface resources. |
