<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance device having simple configuration and performing closing of a nozzle opening and suction cleaning in a nozzle, to provide a fluid ejecting apparatus, and to provide a maintenance method. <P>SOLUTION: The maintenance device of a printer includes a cap 50, a suction pump for sucking the inside of a recessed portion 59, and a moving mechanism. The cap 50 includes a plurality of abutment parts 56 abutting on the nozzle opening 25 so as to seal the nozzle 23 in units of nozzle rows with respect to a fluid ejecting head 18, a plurality of openings 57 provided in positions adjacent to the respective abutment parts 56, and the recessed portion 59 configured in such a way that a part of the opening of the recessed portion 59 is covered by the abutment parts 56 and the inner space of the recessed portion 59 is communicated with the outside through the openings 57. The moving mechanism relatively moves the cap 50 and the fluid ejecting head 18 between a closing position where the abutment parts 56 close the nozzle opening 25 and a communication position where the nozzle 23 is communicated with the recessed portion 59 through the openings 57. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
