<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow reapplication of improved tension to warps of a warp layer which can be mechanically easily carried out, and is highly reliable, accurate, flexible in application, and high in cost efficiency of action. <P>SOLUTION: A tension-applying device (S) has two supporting members (S-10, S-20). The supporting members (S-10, S-20) can vary a mutual relative distance through a positioning mechanism (S-30), are detachably connected to a common guide rail (FS) through guiding elements (S-11, S-11', S-21 ), and can be moved along the guide rail. The supporting members (S-10, S-20) are provided with lock elements (S-12, S-22) for alternately fixing the supporting members (S-10, S-20) to suitable positions on the guide rail (FS).
