摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve thin film formation while maintaining functions of an auxiliary recording layer and enhance a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). <P>SOLUTION: A perpendicular magnetic recording disk 100 comprises a granular magnetic layer 160 and an auxiliary recording layer 180 arranged above the granular magnetic layer, both formed over a substrate 110. The granular magnetic layer has a granular structure comprising a grain boundary part formed by segregation of a non-magnetic substance mainly composed of an oxide around magnetic grains mainly composed of CoCrPt alloy which grows in a columnar shape, and the auxiliary recording layer is mainly composed of CoCrPtRu alloy and contains a subordinate component that is a metal forming a passivity and not being an antiferromagnetic material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
