<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coil-type electronic component using a magnetic substance which can be manufactured in low cost, and has both properties of high magnetic permeability and high saturation magnetic flux density. <P>SOLUTION: A coil-type electronic component includes a coil inside or on an element assembly. The element assembly in the coil-type electronic component is constituted of a group of particles of soft magnetic alloy containing iron, silicon, and elements oxidizing more readily than iron. Oxide layers in which the particles oxidize is formed on the surfaces of the soft magnetic material particles. The oxide layers include a large amount of the elements more readily oxidizing than iron compared with the alloy particles.
