<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which is reduced in the size, weight and cost to enable a user to carry out simple measurement without imposing an economical burden. <P>SOLUTION: The device is configured to evaluate bone density of a finger by the measurement using ultrasound and achieves the reductions in the size and the weight by shortening an interval between probes and the inexpensive cost by further reducing the number of components. The measurement is performed by placing the finger (an example of a central part of a middle phalanx of a second finger) between a pair of probes in a manner to sandwich the finger, by transmitting the ultrasound, and by measuring the transmission time. Then, the bone density and bone strength are evaluated by measuring a propagation velocity inside the bone and bone rigidity from the transmission time and the distance between the fixed probes. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
