<p>The device has a water screen that is produced in an operating condition of the water screen device. A set of nozzles (17) is arranged horizontally adjacent to each other in series in a longitudinal direction of a water container (11). The nozzles are provided with water inlets (18) and water outlets (19). A still water level (21) is arranged below the series of the nozzles, where a water supply to the nozzles is interrupted in a rest state of the water screen device. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a water screen device.</p>
