A filter for a cigarette, comprising: filter plugs separated from each other and disposed with a hollow section provided therebetween; a fragrance material capsule provided in the hollow section between the filter plugs and holding within a membrane a liquid content which contains a fragrance material; and a liquid impermeable tip paper wrapped around the filter plugs and the fragrance material capsule. The liquid content contains the fragrance material and a thickening agent and has a viscosity higher than or equal to 30 mPa·s.
