<p>Disclosed is a handover management method, which includes: acquiring the directed retry information indicating that a Mobile Station (MS) needs a handover from a source cell to a target cell, wherein the directed retry information contains the information indicating that the source cell and the target cell are managed by the same Base Station Controller (BSC)(201); and performing a handover response directly to the BSC managing the source cell(202). Also disclosed is a handover management apparatus. When a directed retry is initiated in the same BSC, compared with the prior art, the technical solution provided in the present invention reduces the interactions with the BSC where the target cell locates by acquiring the information indicating that the source cell and the target cell are managed by the same BSC, thus reducing signaling interactions and improving handover speed.</p> |
